Quotidian Fevers

Fevers that repeat on a daily basis.

Rare disease

An uncommon illness that affects very few people. In Australia it is defined as affecting less than 1 in 2000.

Rheumatologist

A doctor who specialises in treating patients with rheumatic diseases, including arthritis, many autoimmune diseases, and many autoinflammatory diseases.

Schnitzler syndrome

A rare autoinflammatory condition causing fever, rash, bone pain, and other symptoms.

Serum amyloid A (SAA)

An acute-phase protein that can be used as an inflammatory marker.

Still's disease

Still's disease is an autoinflammatory disorder with no known genetic basis, that is usually diagnosed clinically by ruling out other conditions. It can involve non-specific autoinflammatory symptoms such as a daily spiking (quotidian) fever, sore throat, rash, headache, feeling very tired (fatigue), or painful joints and muscles. Previously if symptoms began before the age of 16, the diagnosis would be Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA). If symptoms began after 16, the diagnosis would be Adult-Onset Still's Disease (AOSD), however as of 2025 they are both now known as Still's disease.
